The new home of healthcare in Dublin will be a hospital like no other.
Using evidence-based research, Dublin Methodist Hospital has been designed to improve the emotional and spiritual well-being of patients, families, physicians and associates. The internal and external environments blend together in a building that breaks down the fear and intimidation of a hospital visit and supports the healing process.
Design solutions incorporated into the hospital to support this new model of patient care include:
- extensive views to the outside
- outside roof terraces
- gardens and patient pavilions connected by glass enclosed corridors
The windows in all patient rooms are oversized, enhancing views to the outside. Light sources within rooms mimic natural light and give patients a sense that they are sill connected to the outside world. Many of the hospital's garden and respite areas are still available to carry the name of a generous donor.
